Each personal computer or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, as well as any applications that are present on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, every single application runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. If a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so that you can set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

If you select one of our VPS server solutions, you'll have as many as 3 different Operating Systems to select from - CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu. They're all Linux releases and we offer them rather than offering just one OS, since the apps that you may wish to run on the server could have specific requirements about the software environment. Each of these three has certain advantages with regard to the available packages that you can eventually install, but what is common between them is that they're really secure and reliable and have vast communities which support them. The web hosting Control Panel choices for the VPS accounts depend on your Operating System choice, so as to give you more flexibility. When you order the virtual server with one OS and you need another one later, our tech support team can easily reinstall the VPS with the new one in a matter of minutes. We also offer you the option to keep the Operating System on your server up-to-date weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server solutions - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are freely available and they will not increase the cost of your new hosting server, but also because they are very stable and secure. Each of them is backed up by a huge community of developers, so you will be able to choose from a large number software packages that you can install on your server in case the application that you want to work with has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what internet hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer run on specific OSs only and since we would like to give you as much adaptability as possible, we offer a couple of OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you get a server with a certain Operating System, we can change it upon request in case it turns out that you'll need alternative one. We can also keep your OS updated weekly as part of the additional Managed Services upgrade.
